Today's Grammar Point
「〜ている」= verb て-form + いる. It has three main uses. ① Ongoing action (currently happening): Ima hon wo yonde imasu. (I am reading a book right now.) ② Resulting state (change occurred, state continues): Mado ga aite imasu. (The window is open.) ③ Habitual action (always doing): Mainichi undō shite imasu. (I exercise every day.) 💡 In casual speech 〜ています is shortened to 〜てる
今、ご飯を食べています。
いま、ごはんをたべています。 — I am eating right now.
毎日、運動しています。
まいにち、うんどうしています。 — I exercise every day.
窓が開いています。
まどがあいています。 — The window is open.
